Christmas – A Celebration commemorating the Birth of CHRIST.
The 1st Christmas was the day when God became flesh and dwelt physically amongst men
– God proclaimed His goodwill towards men.
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and
they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated,
“God with us.” Matthew 1:23
The Gift of eternal life as encapsulated in John 3:16 – For
God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Christmas is one of the most looked forward to (celebrations and rest
days!) and exciting times of the year. The heart and mind gets brimmed
over with joyfulness with the thoughts of Christmas. There’s
the gathering among relatives and friends not forgetting the traditions
among which's the giving of presents.
It is indeed fun to give and receive gifts, provided that it does not
put a strain on the budget for the giver. Many a times, it is not so
much of the cost of the gifts but the thoughts behind it that make the
most impact.
Revisiting and reflecting through some contemplative quotes on gifts:
*Every gift from a friend is a wish for your happiness - Richard Bach
*You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving -
Author Unknown
*May no gift be too small to give, nor too simple to receive, which is
wrapped in thoughtfulness, and tied with love - L.O. Baird
*Gift exchanges make love last longer - Swedish Proverb
*The heart of the giver makes the gift dear and precious –
Martin Luther

How do guys christmas shop? I'm writing an article about the male perspective of christmas shopping. do you bag or wrap more? What do you buy, and do you buy months in advance, the day before, online..... I myself am a guy, but I have to keep myself out of the article. Thanks

Many many months in advance. That way I can go to the stores free of stress and watch with glee as humanity puts their manners on hold for a month.

I think about what whoever would want. Then go to the store, pick it out, buy it, and walk out of the store. It is usually a few days before I am giving it to the person. I will bag it if I cant get someone to wrap it for me (I TRY to wrap and its no good for anyone) I can get my entire Christmas shopping done it about 1 hour.

I am a last minute shopper kind of guy. I like to wrap the gift just because it has a better feel than just to give a gift bag. I usually buy things that I feel the person would enjoy as a hobby. I don't try to find clothes or decorations for them since that's something that's a personal choice. Hope this helps.

I do most of the Christmas shopping for the family, but every year my husband does the shopping for me. He usually gets me way too much, wraps and ties it beautifully (he's an artist and loves buying fancy paper and ribbon, even when we have good ones at home) and all of the gifts I've purchased and wrapped look shoddy. Luckily for him, he's a wonderful husband and we have a good life together ... but I put the gifts he wraps in front of the tree, so mine don't show. He buys gifts any time from mid November to Christmas eve, and even occasionally buys wraps and gives me special gifts days or even weeks before the 'big day.' I always get a new turtle calender, he gets me everything I ask for (bathrobe, slippers, nightgown, bath 'potions', computer games). One year he bought me a pair of binoculars, which I thought was a bit weird ... but I use them every time we go on a trip or to the park or zoo. They're one of my favorite gifts from him!

First of all, go alone. Set aside some time and just do it. Have an attitude that it is going to be fun. Have a list of people that you are going to shop for and make a very tentative list of what you may buy them. Have a general budget regarding what you want to spend total as well as what you are going to spend on each person. Be open minded; as you are shopping and see something that catches your interest, think of each person on your list and if this item may be something that they would really enjoy (of course as long as it is in your price range for that person). Also, I find that book stores often serve as great bail out places. So often book stores have over runs of great "table top " books that are on clearance that appeal to a wide variety of interests. These things are fun to buy and fun to receive.

Not a guy, but guys tend to view it as a competition, wait until the last minute, rush out and buy something....... Not to say all guys are like that....my current BF probably has all of his Christmas shopping done, and birthday shopping, and most of it will have been bought in some exotic place like Prague or Rio or Sears.......
